Following R&B star Trey Songz and Big Sean‘s performance at Constitution Hall, D.C. tastemakers, media and socialites were invited to Sax Lounge to party with Mr. Steal Your Girl and celebrate Kevin Liles’ birthday.
Despite major organizational problems with promoters and staff along with the General Manager shutting the doors for good around 12:30 a.m. (Were they even prepared for a guestlist of 300?!), those who managed to get inside Sax enjoyed it’s breathtaking renovations. Remember Posh Lounge? It’s hard to envision what Sax looked like before it’s opulent redesign complete with gold touches, one-of-a-kind murals and chandeliers. The inspiration was the Palace of Versailles in France, and the restaurant-lounge is a definite nod to the Hall of Mirrors.
Still, organizational problems left a bad taste in a few partygoers mouths. Ian, one organizer, even tweeted:
“Despite the mishaps, i would like to apologize for any emotional inconvenience caused from last nights event.” Oh.kay.
Celebs including Young Jeezy, Washington Wizards John Wall, Jordan Crawford, Trevor Booker, JaVale McGee, Rashard Lewis, Andray Blatche and Roger Mason were all in attendance including local socialite fixtures including Taz Wube, DC Fab!’s Socialite of the Year Yodit Gebreyes, WKYS’ Angie Ange, BET’s Andre Showell and Angel Elliott, WPGC’s Sunni, John Burns, Dave & Ray, photog LaVan Anderson and IAmSuperGorge’s Ashley Brittany and L’Oreal.
And although the soiree was hosted by Grey Goose’s new flavor Cherry Noir, most didn’t get to taste it as it was a cash bar. Huh?
